Love it or hate it, the ‘90s are back in action with no sign of leaving anytime soon. The ‘90s were often characterized by grungier styles including dark colors, flannels and any type of distressed clothing. Drawing from the Brock Collection fall 2016 ready-to-wear, I was able to curate an outfit that would make Daria jealous.
Admittedly, the Brock Collection is very modern and minimalistic, but the great thing about fashion is that you can get inspiration from one piece and use this idea to create a completely different look. To take the Brock Collection and make it more ‘90s, I paired light-wash, hip-hugger distressed boyfriend jeans with a black knit tank top. I then tied a red and black flannel around my waist as an accessory that I am able to wear as a light jacket if the temperature drops.
Accessory-wise, I put on a black tattoo choker as well as a vintage necklace that shows a hand holding a crystal. Many of my vintage pieces are perks from my mom being super hip during the ‘90s, as well as her ability to save everything forever. (Shout out to mom, I wouldn’t be as cool as I am without you). I keep my makeup fairly simple with winged liner and a dark, bold lip in my favorite MAC shade, Studded Kiss.
On my feet I sport black jelly sandals, which we are all extremely familiar with from our childhood. While I vaguely remember the agony of wearing them, today they don’t hurt my feet at all and they are actually one of my favorite pairs of shoes. They’re super comfortable, versatile and quick to put on when you’re in a hurry.
Get My Look: 1. Light wash jeans. 2. Black tank top. 3. Jelly sandals.
