Spring is finally starting to show in Happy Valley. Well, it’s at least above 32 degrees and that’s close enough for me. For most people, spring is all about the florals, but I always like to have a little edge in my outfits.
For this look, I found my inspiration in the Louis Vuitton spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection, which makes spring seem much edgier than most collections do. The designer, Nicolas Ghesquière, created these designs based on the digital trend that is happening today. In looking at his amazing collection, I found a little bit of punk and a lot of geometrics. Ghesquière designed a collection that was meant to look like science fiction, but it came off as more rock than futuristic. I mean, even the pants have spikes!
Drawing from the runway show, I wanted to take the sweetness that we normally associate with spring and add the punk of the Vuitton collection. A lot of the designs focus on a motor jacket, so I grabbed my suede one that I got from Forever 21 and paired it with a pink lace dress. Then, I added a triangle statement necklace and ripped tights for additional flare. To finish off the look, I put on some pumps, a classic piece that could be a part of any spring outfit, and threw my hair in a bun.
In pairing something sweet with something punk, the outfit became more of a standout look and that was definitely my goal. It’s definitely not something you would wear to an exam, but if you’re looking for a little edge on a night out, this is the pairing for you.
