As many of you know, the no makeup trend has taken over our social media feed. We see model after model give the appearance of looking naturally flawless, so why can’t you as well. “No makeup” doesn’t necessarily have to mean absolutely none, right?
For myself, I have a daily makeup routine that I wear when I am going to class, work, or running around to where ever the day may take me. It’s important to know what works best for you and the type of products you can use to highlight your strongest features. These are the beauty items that can be found in my purse alongside me everywhere I go.
First and probably the most important is a tinted moisturizer. Using a product like NYX Tinted Moisturizer is the key to pulling off this natural look. A tinted moisturizer will give you a soft glow and wake your skin up without covering up any imperfections or flaws like a thicker foundation might do. Girl, show those freckles off. When I say that you will need a contouring stick I am sure you’re thinking, “how could contouring possibly be natural looking?” But when I use Maybelline Face Studio Master Contour Stick, I strictly limit where I try to define my features. I like the sharpen my cheekbones and my jawline, so I give myself a thin swipe along just those areas. Up next, I follow this with a thin layer of a shimmer eyeshadow. This doesn’t have to be anything bold or dark. I usually go with one of my many favorite neutral eyeshadows like the ColourPop Shadows & Pigments, Hanky Panky. Now we get into the mascara department which is the one thing that I believe is absolutely worth forking over $20 for a good product. Long natural looking eyelashes make you feel more feminine and beautiful, and after trying almost every mascara possible, Benefit Roller Lash Mascara is the perfect fit.
To compliment your natural makeup, wear something simple and chic. I paired this beauty style with a plain v-neck white tee. When deciding what to wear pick a color top that will make your features show through and pop. I added a beige maxi cardigan and a pair of distressed light denim mom jeans to this look. Lastly, I usually throw on a pair of fur lined black booties to complete this outfit that may seem muted but has so much to say.
Everyone prefers something a little different when it comes to makeup, so find the brands and products that work for your skin and can make you feel great. Natural beauty is just as beautiful as a full face of makeup and ladies don’t forget, imperfections make us all the more perfect.
