Urban, preppy, even girly—the leather jacket trend has invaded nearly every Fashionistas/os’ personal wardrobe—real or faux. Can we really be surprised? The soft textured accessory can make any outfit go from zero to 100 really quick.
Looking back at the many runways, the Saint Laurent fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection captivated one of my favorite styles: the punk rock look.
I may not wear skin-tight and shimmery dresses with torn up fishnets as Hedi Slimane’s collection emphasized, but I do admire the usage of leather as I have added that to my personal style. This style is not exclusive to the French punk rock music lover, as other designers have added an edge to their collections by taking on this staple material: Alexander Wang, Anthony Vaccarello and Haider Ackermann are a few, among others.
Very plain and simple pieces are the ones I gravitate towards. I paired my faux leather jacket with an black long sleeve shirt and some gray Zara skinny jeans. I typically roll up my jeans because, unfortunately I am not the height of a Zara model. *Wipes away single tear*
Next to my leather jacket, my Steve Madden leather boots are my other favorite accessory from my wardrobe. They are extremely comfortable and not too tight. They are starting to get scuffs at the tips so I’ve got to pick up another pair of these bad boys!
As I have mentioned before, I don’t wear makeup. So, I decided to do something else and maybe even a little drastic, and that was going blonde! They say blondes have more fun though, right?
While leather has been used in multiple forms in every major runway show, the real show stopper is how the garment is being worn above the waist: the leather jacket.
Get My Look: 1. Leather jacket. 2. Black ankle boots. 3. Black long sleeve.
