STYLE GURU STYLE: A Pop Of Color

Ever since spring 2015 fashion week I have been waiting to break out my spring wardrobe! Some of my favorite shows featured looks that were all white with accents of rich colors. The Christian Dior spring 2015 fashion show really stuck with me. The show was inspired by the previous July couture show which was a mix of past and future fashion.

When looking at the Christian Dior collection I took many things for inspiration for this look. The ready-to-wear was mainly white, black, cream and a few neutral colors but there were also many pops of color. The rich colors that were added could be as simple as an orange top or an ankle length navy coat. In this look I stayed neutral with a black sweater and high-waisted shorts but chose a signature red lip and cherry red tote for my pops of color.

Something I noticed in this collection was the pairing of Bermuda shorts and coats. Here in Indiana we often get stuck in a transition between seasons. Because of this it can be 30 degrees in the morning and 70 degrees by 2:00 p.m. Don’t get me wrong, I love a great coat, but let’s just say that after this long winter I am beyond ready to pack up my winter clothing. So the idea of wearing shorts and a coat is a perfect idea for the beginning of spring where it can easily change from being cold to warm. I took this tip and changed it to be more realistic for my style by matching high-waisted white shorts and a white jacket.

The Christian Dior collection included many details from feminine prints to buttons and belts but my favorite was the quilting of the Bermuda shorts which I hinted at in my quilted jacket and black flats. I always love to pay attention to details which add dimension and originality to every look. I wore delicate necklaces, a watch, bracelet and my favorite black sunglasses. These small additions can truly transform a look while not taking the spotlight.

Get My Look: 1. White high-waisted shorts. 2. A colored tote. 3. A white coat with some texture.
