Everything from the spring 2015 ready-to-wear J.Crew show was, of course, preppy! I constantly found myself going through the pictures, thinking about how the outfits were already very wearable. A theme that I started to notice was the use of the chambray. There were different chambrays in light blue, dark blue and with different colored pockets, all styled in various ways. I wear the heck out of my chambray, but I usually do not do it in the way that it was featured in this show. I often put it over an outfit that already has a lot going on because of how neutral I think it makes an outfit look. J.Crew proved to me that even a simple chambray can be the focal point.
Today I took a note from the runway show and wore the chambray as the focal point of my outfit. Many of the looks had the front of the shirt tucked into the pants, but I liked the look of the shirt being tied. I also rolled up the sleeves to display the simplistic jewelry. I went with a pearl Peter Pan collar necklace under my collar, a simple bow ring and a leather-like material bracelet in white. Since I can’t resist a little twist on my outfits, I wore white jeans that have a light blue floral print. If that’s not your cup of tea, white pants would work perfectly, too! As not to clash with my jeans, I finished off the entire look with some white canvas shoes.
J.Crew’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear show helped me get out of the way I would usually wear my chambray and showed me new styling tricks. While I normally had other parts of my outfit being the focal point, I now know how to make chambrays the center of attention!
