When you think of spring fashions, floral print inevitably comes to mind. However, Colcci’s spring 2015 collection challenges this stereotype by showcasing neutral colors and a wide variety of monochromatic outfits. Lately I have been wearing mostly neutral colors, even with the changing seasons. And when I came across Colcci’s collection, I was beyond thrilled to discover that wearing black in the summer can be very versatile.
Many of the dresses shown in the collection are loose fitting and rather detailed in black or white lace. I decided to instead wear a simple black slip dress. This dress flows quite well and its light material allows it to catch the breeze. It is separated into three different tiers, which helps allow it to flow even more than it would if it were made of one, uninterrupted piece of fabric.
Nearly every model in Colcci’s collection can be seen wearing gladiator sandals. Instead of wearing sandals as tall as the ones worn by the models, I opted for some strappy, chunky heels with cutouts that are similar to the gladiator sandal style. These help give me a bit of height (which I desperately need) and stay with my monochromatic theme.
Accessory-wise, I paired a long necklace with shorter necklaces and a choker, taking inspiration from the jewelry worn by the models in the show. Finally, I added a few simple bracelets, a watch and stud earrings to keep my outfit looking light and feminine. While the rest of my outfit is black, the accessories I chose add a pop of color.
