STYLE GURU STYLE: All Laced Up

I absolutely adore lace. I also love to dress up every single day. As my mother would say, “Why do you always look like you are dressed for a party?”

Ellie Saab’s spring 2015 couture collection speaks to me both on a fashion and spiritual level. If you have met me, I am head over heels in love with dresses. Being a Canadian in Toronto, it is cold and snowy for most of the year. As soon as summer hits, you will only see me in dresses and skirts! That is also why I adore Ellie Saab’s spring 2015 couture collection. All of the dresses featured have beautiful skirts that flow effortlessly. It reminds me of the dresses of my latest TV obsession Reign. Ellie Saab’s dresses are regal with the use of lace, but feel light and gentle in the skirt.

In my outfit, I am wearing a dress with a sweetheart neckline, that is covered by lace. The sweetheart actually drops very low, to create a dramatic neckline covered by lace to make the dress less risque. My favorite neckline is a sweetheart. The sweetheart neckline works for most bust sizes, and frames the body with a feminine touch.

I was heading to an alumni event in this photo (I will be graduating in November!) and do not wish to show too much skin, even if it is covered by lace. Instead, I am wearing a lace bandeau underneath from Hollister Co. to create more coverage. I am wearing a black dress, because just like any of the other colors in Ellie Saab’s spring 2015 couture collection, it is timeless and elegant.

I am wearing a kimono cardigan over the dress to create a unique and interesting shape, and to add some coverage for the cooler summer nights. If you aren’t able to find a kimono cardigan, any over sized and long cardigan will do. Unfortunately, the cardigan that I am wearing from Abercrombie & Fitch is no longer available for those who are interested in it.

To make sure that  my outfit seems just as regal as the collection and in Reign, I chose an ornate gold earring with a diamond like gem. The shape of the earring is very similar to a lace pattern. Since the bottom of my skirt is airy, black, and plain the earrings don’t have to compete with the amount of lace on the dress but still matches.

Get My Look: 1.A lace dress with a light airy skirt. 2.An over-sized cardigan 3. Regal, ornate earrings.
