Stripes, denim and a muted color palette are my go-to style picks. There’s nothing better than throwing on a simple, classic outfit and heading out the door to take on the day. But, small details can amp up a simple outfit in no time.
With major shoe and color palette inspiration from Michael Kors’ spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection, I combined some of my staple wardrobe pieces to create a sleek look like those in his collection. His collection featured simple pieces, like shirtdresses and trousers, with detailed accessories like lace-up flats and structured leather bags. I chose to stay true to his casual, yet tailored, collection’s feel.
Kors’ collection was gorgeous, but I wanted to create an even more lived-in look for my outfit. I chose to toss on my beloved denim jacket to add that worn-in look I desired. Since I was sticking to a simple color palette, I also chose to mix textures like Kors did. My leather bag and shoes added structure to my otherwise casual outfit. The leather, cotton and denim turned out to create the perfect balance of comfort and style.
My outfit includes a ribbed, bodycon T-shirt dress, a distressed denim jacket, a smooth leather tote and pointed-toe, lace-up flats. I donned my glasses to see better, but they also add a “smart” touch to the ensemble. Like the models in the show, I kept my hair simple but full of texture.
Trends come and go, but classic colors and silhouettes never go out of style. By combining key pieces with trendy accessories, I achieved just the perfect outfit for a day at the café. These pieces came together to create an effortless, chic look.
Get My Look: 1. A striped dress. 2. Lace-up flats. 3. A lived-in denim jacket. 4. A simple leather tote.
