Ah, spring, the time for warmer weather, new beginnings and killer trends. I’ve already developed a spring fever for stripes of any caliber thanks to Giorgio Armani’s spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection. Playing with both horizontal and vertical stripes, Armani has raised standards for spring designs. Though floral will always have its place in spring fashion, the Armani collection focuses on bold, colorful patterns that can be paired with almost anything. Some of my favorite looks featured solid colored outfits with one striped statement piece. An eye-catching jacket, top or skirt, can make an entire outfit in my opinion.
In my Armani-inspired look, I wanted to incorporate primary colors and that horizontal stripes trend with a more laid-back street style. I’m a sucker for anything denim and would probably include it in every outfit if possible, so it only made sense to pair my striped crop top with a flirty button-up denim skirt. The light wash on the skirt has a softer effect on the outfit than a darker colored one would, making it perfect for spring streetwear.
Comfortable yet classic, a pair of white Converse All-Stars add flare to the look without distracting from the top. Spring’s temperatures are not quite warm enough to forget a jacket at home and layering on an oversized grey cardigan compliments the colors in the top. I originally pulled my hair into a tight top-knot to save time but using a white scrunchie that gives the look a ’90s feel and shows off the cut of the top. In this outfit, I’m ready for any adventure spring takes me on.
