Runway season is a real life fantasy for almost any Fashionista/o. Just when we start to get bored with last season’s trends, we’re given the next season full of brand new designs and we’re ready to dig our claws in. This season, we’re starting to see a bunch of innovative and eclectic new styles. As a self-proclaimed “boho grunge diva,” I always love to see simple, floaty pieces paired with items that are a little more edgy. By pairing feminine pieces with more grunge attire, I’m able to satisfy every aspect of my favorite trends. This season, destroyed denim has been, quite literally, tearing up the runways. Torn-up jeans are one of the easiest ways to add a little spice to some of my simpler looks.
This season Alexander McQueen’s spring 2016 ready-to-wear line dominated the runway with some awesome new denim designs. My favorite jeans featured in this season, which were also the inspiration for my outfit, were perfectly distressed. They’re completely torn up from top to bottom and help give the model’s look an edgier flair. I found myself a pair of denim jeans that were also over-destroyed. They help balance out the rest of my outfit with their grungier appearance. Not only does McQueen’s ready-to-wear line feature some RAD destroyed denim, every single ensemble in the show perfectly portrays a feminine and girly outfit with a bit of a twist. While a lot of the pieces are flowing and pastel with simple florals that some might consider girly, the accessories and slight details that add a grunge feel to the outfits is what really makes them come alive. I attempted to portray a similar vibe by pairing my torn jeans with a pleated, pink and super girly top. Throw on a leather jacket and the outfit is complete.
Get My Look: 1. Some ripped jeans (the more torn the better). 2. A fun and flirty top, (in a cute color or with a fun texture). 3. A comfy and simple black leather jacket.
