New York City is known for its quirky trends and styles, inspiring fashion all over the world. After I visited the city for the first time, I was so eager to add something new and different to my wardrobe. Coming from a small town in southern Indiana where leggings and a T-shirt is everyone’s go-to, I was amazed at the clothing styles I was being introduced to. I wanted to step out of my comfort zone and wear something that was different from my every day style.
As soon as I laid eyes on the army green, suede overalls, I knew I had to purchase them. They were a clothing item that I had never come across before, and I didn’t own anything like them. This item definitely adds character to my closet. They are so versatile, being appropriate for both winter and summer. You can dress this outfit down by adding some sneakers or make it a bit dressier with sock booties, as I did here. I added a striped turtleneck to give the outfit a little more character and shear tights to make it more appropriate for the colder weather. I decided to keep the accessories simple, sticking to my go-to pieces. I chose a vintage ring and two beaded bracelets. The suede, black booties also give this look a little more sophistication.
Wearing something that isn’t in your comfort zone, that’s different from your normal style can sometimes be a little uncomfortable, but I’ve come to the conclusion that if you like something, you should wear it! If you feel good in your outfit, embrace it.
