I absolutely love army green, so when I first caught a glimpse of Sonia Rykiel’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection, I was fascinated. Army green can be found throughout the entire show. There is also an abundance of textures and glamour. I find it amazing how Rykiel created pieces that are structured, bold and elegant. These elements combined create a bad girl vibe with a sophisticated touch—what every girl secretly wants to achieve.
To transfer the attributes of this collection into a more wearable look, I, of course, had to go for my army green utility jacket. I found this jacket to be the perfect way to incorporate not only the color but the structured cut of many pieces in the collection. To add some texture, I’m wearing a fluffy white sweater, which also keeps me incredibly warm. White is another color that is splattered throughout the entire show, and I thought it added a light, feminine touch to the look.
Rykiel’s designs also include a lot of trouser pants. However, I opted for a pair of black skinny jeans as they fit my style better, and I find them more flattering on my body. Since the collection is full of sequins and sparkles, I had to include my navy and gold statement necklace. I found this necklace to be the perfect accessory to mimic elements from Rykiel’s collection because it is slightly structured yet still glamorous. This collection also includes a large amount of strappy sandals, which, unfortunately, would cause me to get frostbite if I wore them this time of year. So to keep my feet warm, I am wearing a pair of brown leather boots, fitting the theme of the look very well.
This spring 2015 collection inspired me to be a little bit more creative about what I pair with casual pieces like a utility jacket. I never would have thought to wear it with my fluffy sweater and statement necklace; however, the contrast created between the two pieces added to the overall look, making it put together. Mixing together different textures and styles of pieces can actually be very fun and a great way to create a completely new wardrobe with an infinite amount of combinations.
