STYLE GURU STYLE: Back in School Blues

Now that college is in full swing here in the Northeast, it is only a matter of time before our favorite summer looks are compromised by declining temperatures and snowy conditions. Any reminder of the warm summer sun can be enough to pull a college student out of the back in school blues. The seasons change quickly once September arrives and classes begin- too quickly for my liking. I learned from experience that it is valuable to own many transition wardrobe pieces and have knowledge on how to incorporate my favorite summer staples into my fall looks. This is extremely valuable in college given the limited amount of wardrobe space in most dormitories and learning to budget spending.

The chiffon ruffle hem dress I sported serves as a key transition piece in my wardrobe in the upcoming months. Navy blue is the perfect color to look for when choosing clothing that can serve as a transition piece from summer to fall. Incorporating neutral colors, like navy blue, into my summer wardrobe increases the likelihood that many pieces will be worn over multiple seasons. In the fall, a summer-reminiscent dress will pair perfectly with a denim jacket and a pair of combat boots.

Incorporating signature summer pieces like lacy barrettes are a simple way to add a touch of summer to any fall outfit choice. The Out From Under Lace Halter Bra from Urban Outfitters and the Lace Halter Bralette from Abercrombie and Fitch are popular options and are available in several colors that are certain to fit the style of any Fashionista. These brands’ intimates are kind to a college student’s wallet, too.

Many accessories have the potential to transition from summer-appropriate to fall-appropriate. My personal favorite pieces to wear year-round are my Rose Gonzales thread bracelets. These bracelets can be ordered in a variety of colors and styles that can be worn to match any style. To me, these thread bracelets seek inspiration from the classic friendship bracelets often woven in summer camp.

Stay lovely, always!
