When thinking about the basics, there’s always one color that comes to mind—black. Black is the one basic that one can never go out of style because it goes with everything while managing to always look fresh and exciting. Whether black is paired with a second color, in a pattern or by itself, it manages to make any outfit chic. Some people believe that black can add a bit of a depressive note to an outfit, but I disagree. I think black is a color that adds both class and sophistication to any outfit.
In Calvin Klein’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection, I noticed black is one of the main colors that appeared throughout the collection. I like that about the collection because it’s a fresh way to incorporate the basics in a new way.
My outfit was inspired by this collection. I am wearing all black, which is not only flattering, but is also a perfect outfit for the first few weeks of classes. I am wearing a black and dark gray T-shirt. I’m wearing dark wash denim shorts, which is something that always manages to complement black. For shoes, I am wearing a pair of black espadrilles, which are always the perfect finishing touch to any outfit while adding comfort. For a finishing touch, I’m wearing a black patent leather watch, a silver necklace and a delicate silver beaded bracelet.
As we head into fall, one of the things to look out for is the appearance of more black. When done right, it won’t appear boring, but chic.
