If you’re familiar with Opening Ceremony, or have even had the chance to visit their SoHo store, then you know what they’re all about. In one way to describe them, they are ruler breakers. Every fashion trend you’ve seen in stores or on the runway, Opening Ceremony has taken to the next level with their funky patterns, swirl heeled sandals; you name it and they’ve done it. OC is really just all of us: they are our spirit animal and what comes to mind when we think “I wish I could pull that off.”
Opening Ceremony’s fall 2016Â runway show was no exception. With futuristic vibes, sunglasses that will keep you in awe and overall killer silhouettes, I could only watch from the sidelines and pray to one day be able to pull off at least one look. Hope alas, Look 27 of the whole collection was something that I immediately could see myself in. In fact, I had similar pieces from my own wardrobe that I thought compared to this look.
Because Opening Ceremony is a rule breaker, I decided to break my own rules as well. First, I threw on a pair of my high-waisted white skinny jeans (before Memorial Day, yes). To keep a similar monochromatic and simple look as the model sported in this look, I next wore a simple gray T-shirt from AllSaints. Of course, the focus of this look is the jacket, so I had to wear my new camel coat from ASOS (fun fact: it’s actually a men’s coat) to achieve a similar look to this model. Lastly, my sneakers—and hey, kudos to me for attempting to pull off the futuristic look by hiding some metallic detail on the backs of my MM6 Maison Margiela sneakers.
Get My Look: 1. A camel coat. 2. Your favorite white denim. 3. Essences of futurism (i.e. metallic anything, of course).
