STYLE GURU STYLE: Balancing Act

My feelings about wearing ripped jeans in the winter tend to be mixed. On one hand, it doesn’t expose so much skin that you feel like you’re going to freeze, but on the other, it can show off just how pale you may be in the dead of December. Some may think it’s a bit of a faux pas to wear a summery style like that in the colder months, but for me, it’s all about balancing it with a wintery top.

Wearing a neutral sweater balances out the ripped jeans to the point where it really looks like an outfit for the colder weather. Plus, as shown below, this sweater switches between a few different colors depending on the lighting, so it’s almost like multiple outfits in one! Adding little booties makes the outfit weather-proof, thus making it the perfect look for cold winter days.

As much as I love these jeans, finding jeans that have rips which actually match up with your knees can be a bit of a struggle. I’m sure I’m not the only one who has had these issues, so I’m sure you can all understand. Clearly, these rips don’t hit me right at the knee, but it’s close enough. My new favorite tortoiseshell glasses nicely complement the color of the sweater and the brightness of the jeans, and they almost tone down the bright outfit. Clearly, I’m not one for colorful outfits. I added my current favorite gold necklace, and it dresses the top up just a tad.

This outfit is perfect to throw on when you don’t want to try too hard but still need to have a polished look. The sweater and jeans are both super comfortable, and the boots have just enough heel to add something special to the outfit.
