When I started building my wardrobe for this fall season, I knew exactly what I was looking for—warmth and diversity. Warm, neutral colors are where it is at this season. I like to call them “cozy” colors. When I say diversity, I am referring to a diverse group of patterns and textures. Combining a sheer top with a heavier pant is perfectly acceptable this season.
When choosing my look, I took inspiration from the Gucci fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection. Alessandro Michele created a beautiful collection that I adore. It is a combination of classic and modern with a twist. With a mix of high, conservative necklines and completely sheer tops, he blew me away. He incorporated many of the fall colors I knew I had to get my hands on immediately. With a wide range of colors to work with, I put together an outfit that I thought incorporated many aspects of his collection.
Considering his color palette, I chose a golden tank top and a pair of olive green utility pants. These two colors have quickly become statement pieces in my wardrobe this season. I incorporated the flowing, gentle lines with the multiple straps that are part of the top. With the pants I chose, I attempted to embody the more masculine feeling that contradicted the strappy heels and top.
The trend of utilizing both masculine and feminine aspects in an outfit is not going anywhere anytime soon, and I am perfectly okay with that. I feel empowered when I am able to show off a softer side as well as setting it off with an edgier twist.
