Despite the unfortunate passing of Oscar de la Renta last October, Oscar de la Renta’s 2015 fall ready-to-wear line was very captivating and sophisticated. Oscar de la Renta’s successor, Peter Copping, created lavish, polished pieces detailed with a variety of patterns. Despite this being his first runway show and the fact that he had only three months to put the collection together, each piece was perfectly adorned and articulately assembled. Copping added youth to intricate evening gowns while keeping de la Renta’s signature touch and style.
I love combining blazers and skirts and many of the ensembles in this collection consisted of these pieces. In my opinion, pairing a blazer with a skirt is a great way to dress up without being overly gaudy. One of the favorite pieces of the collection was look six, consisting of a sheer white top with embroidered flowers worn with a flowy black skirt and a sparkly black blazer. I chose to model this look with my own spin, of course.
I chose a black blazer with leather detailing on the lapel. I also wore a knee-length black skirt with a sheer bottom. My favorite part of the outfit was the beaded white bustier. I wore minimal jewelry as to not distract from the extravagance of the top. Overall, the look is one of my personal favorites because I can wear it out shopping with a blazer or wear it without a blazer for a night out.
Get my look: 1. A black blazer. 2. A beaded bustier. 3. A knee-length skirt.
