Walking a perfect line between masculinity and femininity is the Nina Ricci 2016 resort collection. The simple yet sophisticated vibe that this collection has is what first grabbed my attention. It focuses on the texture of the materials rather than on bold embellishments. I love its combination of lightweight fabrics and loose fitting garments because they give off an everyday wearable quality. This collection is the epitome of “less is more” and “beauty in simplicity.” The designer specifically set out to make pieces that “won’t overshadow the woman.” The idea of clothing as an enhancer of beauty rather than essential to beauty is quite an appealing concept.
Taking inspiration from the narrow cut dresses featured in this collection, I combined a loose crinkled chiffon dress with a more structured pointed-toe pump. I cannot take credit for the shoe selection as it was also inspired by Ricci; however the shoes featured on the runway were sling back whereas I chose to rock a pump simply because I’m more partial. I finished my look off by adding a faux snakeskin satchel in cognac to warm things up a bit and pulled my hair back into a low bun to show off the neckline of the dress. Simple and wearable pieces like these are essential to every woman’s wardrobe and feeling sexy in something simple can be very empowering.
Get My Look: 1. Any loose or non-form fitting dress. (Keep texture in mind, as Ricci resort used a lot of nylon silk blends). 2. A pair of pointed toe heels. 3. Large statement bag. 4. Beautiful you!
