Have any of y’all ever seen the picture of the cartoon Daria where it says “these blacks don’t match”? Well, that’s me, I’ve always been obsessed with wearing all black. When I was younger, I remember there being a time that my mom was worried about me because my entire wardrobe was black and everything I was picking up while shopping was black, lol. Luckily for her, I’ve added some colors: white and gray.
Even though I love black, it seemed like the fashion world was transitioning into more nudes, khakis and taupe colors. Fortunately, the Lanvin fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection had a ton of fashionable all-black outfits. The collection was inspired by “sophisticated adventuress, whose clothes were souvenirs of a life lived to the fullest.” I was drawn to this collection because the pieces were flowy but still had a beautiful structure to them—I knew I could make these look tomboy-chic.
My favorite look was look 44, so of course I made it fit into my fashion sense and budget. To make the look a little edgier, I wore an oversized bomber jacket from Gojane.com instead of a trench coat. Bomber jackets are great staple items in someone’s wardrobe because they have such an effortless pizzaz to them. I added my favorite over-the-knee leather boots and my Future (as in the rapper)-inspired hat. To add some color to the look, I wore a Colourpop lipstick Zipper.
All-black is definitely a classic wardrobe look. It will never go out of style and can be interpreted in an array of ways.
