I recently dyed my hair blue. A month ago, actually. It’s been fascinating watching as the colors shift in my hair from bright and electric to a soft and faded aquamarine. I’m just waiting for the day I step out of the shower and I’m blonde again. But aside from dipping my hair in radioactive Kool-Aid, I haven’t recently taken any fashion risks. So, I looked to the runway for inspiration. Marc Jacobs’ spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection caught my eye. Bright prints, high slits and billowing dresses describe quite a few of the pieces and it reminded me of a dress I own.
Now, this dress has been sitting in my closet for quite some time. I think I’ve only worn it once or twice because of the bold statement it makes. The Aztec print can be hard to match, or sometimes its something you just have to be in the “mood” for. On this occasion I wore the dress over jean shorts and a black camisole, treating it as a super-sized kimono. If I don’t button it all the way down, the dress billows out behind me, and if I walk fast enough it will snap in the wind.
To top off my look, I piled on all of my favorite rings and colored my lips with one of my best-loved liquid to matte lipsticks. My shoes are these bondage looking flatforms that always make me feel extra sassy. I’d like to think Marc Jacobs strives to feel sassy too.
