My day-to-day style changes, but one thing that stays constant is my goal to be comfortable and simplistic. My go-to is an all-black ensemble, usually partnered with a small gold chain necklace and a few rings. This week, I decided to branch out and look for inspiration to broaden my simple wardrobe by adding color. So, of course, I went straight to the girl who is know for her comfortable, quirky designs: Rachel Antonoff. This year, her fall ready-to-wear collection is a brilliant combination of feminism, prep and girlhood dress-up. I chose to start off simple by adapting her blue button-down dress with black tights to my own button-down shirt and a pair of black leggings.
Inspired by the quirkiness of this look, I adapted the small detail of buttoning my shirt all the way to the top. This may seem like the tiniest change that could affect an outfit, but trust me when I say there was a huge difference in the appearance of this top. I loved this look during my exam filled week because it was easy to maintain and comfortable throughout those long days. This look is prefect for a day in the office or running errands. Choose a pair of black loafers or T.U.K. Creepers, paired with a versatile cross-body bag, and you’ll be ready for whatever lies ahead.
The fun designs Antonoff uses in her fall collection inspire me to reach outside my comfort zone and pick up something quirky and out of the ordinary to mix into my everyday look. Antonoff’s cool ovaries and lungs sweatshirts to her private school uniform looks, are changing the dynamic of dressing college-chic. I cannot wait to see what she brings to the table next!
