Last winter, I was all about wearing the lighter shades: white, pink, pastel, you name it. This winter, I have developed a liking towards throwing on the darker colors and donning black from head to toe. Maybe I am subconsciously preparing myself to blend in with the girls of Harajuku, Japan’s center of street fashion, when I visit this coming January. Although Harujuku is known for its variety of fashion styles, including the bright and cute look, all-black fashion is a popular trend there too.
Here, I am wearing a plain black tee with a zipper in the back from Cotton On. I love how short their T-shirts are because they fit me perfectly since I’m so petite. For my bottoms, I am wearing Forever 21 cropped jeans. I must say my life has been made easier with more and more fashion stores jumping on the cropped jeans bandwagon. No more altering for me! However, when there is not a noticeable difference in the texture of the clothes, I try to add in a pop of color so it doesn’t just look like a lump of black. Hence, I threw on a tan colored pea coat from UNIQLO.
My finishing touch is a pair of chunky slip on Moto Boots. Chunky shoes, whether they are boots or sneakers, are a big hit in Asia right now. So you bet that Fashionistas are strutting around Harujuku in their chunky shoes.
I love the all-black look because it is super easy to put together and anybody can rock it. The cool vibe that the look gives off is a plus in my book.
