I am not afraid to admit that I have an addiction to color. I constantly search for bright and flirty clothes for the arrival of spring, but the A.F Vandevorst spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection has recently hooked me on neutrals and an edgier taste. The combination of movement, texture and boyish shapes created nothing less than a masterpiece. With only a few colors and some black boots, this collection brings a whole new trend to spring fashion.
Texture is very prominent in the collection and is shown in pieces that appear as though they were purposely scrunched and never ironed. In other looks, a leafy print prevails as the main focus. With this in mind, I decided to put my own spin on this use of texture and design. My black felt pants detail a subtle black print while a lacey cutout covers the entire back of my white top. One accessory seemed to be prevalent in almost every look in the collection—a killer pair of black boots. The repeated use of thigh-high boots is a very cohesive way to tie in the entire collection. My most recent steal is a pair of Restricted black cutout booties from T.J.Maxx. They’re great for both day and night and add to the overall edginess I was hoping for. I am also a huge fan of the way this collection used straps in different looks. I used this as inspiration for my necklace and bracelet, which add dimension and a little sparkle.
A Vandevorst spring 2015 show inspired me to rock a simple black and white look. It doesn’t take much color or boldness to be fashionable and trendy; all you need is some texture and fun. Use this collection as your go-to style guide for the spring season and you’ll be dressed to impress in neutrals.
