STYLE GURU STYLE: Blazed and Confused

Blazers are traditionally seen as being conservative, boring and mostly worn by business women. Many college-aged women own a black or navy blazer for job interviews and career fairs but would never be caught dead in it outside of a professional setting. I am here to change the boring image of the blazer by showing an amazing way to take a business silhouette and turn it into a trendy, put-together ensemble.

The star of the show is a white and navy striped blazer from Desigual. The colorful accents that are a key feature of Desigual designs make the blazer unique and gives it a youthful and refreshing look. I paired the jacket with blue leather leggings from Express and blue suede over-the-knee boots. Underneath the blazer, I wore a white bralette to make the outfit a little sexy and to offset the conservative feel of the blazer.

I own some basic blazers that I use for interviews and professional events because nothing says “I’ve got this” like the crisp fitted feel of a nice blazer. However, I love taking the put-together business look and turning it in to a fashion forward statement. The use of a blazer outside of professional settings is the perfect way to look like you have your life together but still know how to have fun. Basically this outfit says “I aced my test, but I’m also down to go get dinner and drinks later.” The versatility of a blazer is extremely underrated and I believe every Fashionista should have one in her closet.
