All things 1970s graced the runways in 2015, and still appear to be trending as we kick off the new year. Burberry’s fall 2015 collection was no exception with its lightly quilted floral and paisley tiered dresses, trench coats in patchwork prints, tall suede camouflage patched boots, ponchos and fringe galore.
As someone who loves the ’70s, I was inspired by Burberry’s bohemian-chic look. Fringe pieces and ponchos such as those donned by the models at this show are everywhere right now, and I love it! My own style is pretty eclectic, but I’d describe it as trendy, urban and metropolitan for the most part—though I do like just a touch of boho here and there. Mixing all of this together to recreate the Burberry bohemian look was the perfect way for me to depict my style.
Burberry’s collection had a beautiful autumn color palette full of indigo, teal, ochre and deep red hues which I loved. However, I really wanted to capture the chic feel of this collection rather than the color scheme, so I opted for shades of gray and classic black instead.
To create this look, I started with this gray and black fringed poncho that I felt really embodied the bohemian-chic vibe that I was after. I paired my poncho with a simple black tunic, a lace bralette, high-waisted black jeans and pointed toe booties, because there’s really nothing more chic than head to toe black. Finally, I completed the look with some retro inspired sunglasses, pewter handbag and a pop of turquoise.
