I will forever be a fan of all-over black as a statement, so naturally Charlotte Ronson’s fall 2014 ready-to-wear collection caught my eye. I was attracted to the simple silhouettes, flashes of leather and feeling of effortlessness the collection was filled with. The collection’s mix of sweet bohemian and edgy-tough details inspired me to try an all-black mix of leather and lace. The bohemian trend is HUGE this summer and an all-black-everything approach adds just the right amount of edge.
No matter what I wear, I have to add an eccentric element to it. In my take on head to toe black, I used a combination of romantic and rock ‘n’ roll pieces. My favorite piece in this look is my black lace shorts. Depending on what you pair them with, this piece can be either girly and fun or tough as nails, making them a summer must-have.
For my accessories, I chose to echo the touches of leather in Ronson’s collection. I paired a black ankle boot with a cross-body bag to pull it all together. For a little DIY customizing, I added a Guns N’ Roses patch to my bag. As always, I have to add a DIY element to give a staple piece a bit of my own personality.
For the finishing touches, I chose some subtle bangles to give a little contrast to all the black. Lastly, with a nod to menswear, I topped off this look with a bowler hat (I stole this one from my brother!). With this look, you can get the perfect balance of sweet and edgy.
