On any given sunny day, you can usually spot me wearing my favorite summer color: white. Not only do I love this shade (or lack of shade) for its heat reflecting powers, I also love it for its simplicity. You can never go wrong pairing a white tank with anything: a bright pattern, a contrasting dark or a complementing cream. In this case, I went with my distressed denim shorts. The denim and white combo is a favorite go-to of mine, because it oozes “classic.”
When I saw this sleeveless cardigan, it immediately took me to the beach. I could almost feel the breeze blowing the light material around in the air, how refreshing the gusts felt in the southern sun… and I was standing in the middle of Forever 21. When a piece of clothing is so powerful that it transports you, you’ve got to buy it. And that’s exactly what I did.
While creating this look, I was inspired by Virgil Abloh”s Off-White Collection. The white-on-white trend has always been a favorite of mine. Although it’s been around for awhile, it’s an oldie but goodie. Channeling that trend in a less trendy, more everyday way, I layered the white striped cardigan over my white tank top. The denim shorts are key; this is the part that deems the entire outfit as wearable and pulls it all together. If you’ll be walking around a lot like I was, you’ll want to wear a pair of shoes that your feet love. Because of this, I chose my trusty black leather sandals. And to put my own spin on things, I added some of my favorite rings and an accent choker.
