With the first week of classes being gone and classes intensifying, I can’t help but wish it was still summer and I was in Southern California. Despite the fact that I have unfortunately never taken a trip to California, I dream of going there one day. I’ve been inspired by their laidback vibes and amazing sense of street style. The women’s skateboarding culture in California is very prevalent along with their unique sense of style.
This look is inspired by a couple of my favorite professional skateboarders. Lizzie Armanto is a Vans Sk8-Hi ambassador and you can always catch her wearing her pair of Sk8-His. A lot of girls also love to rock baseball hats and even personalize them with patches. I love the fact that Vans has a girl skateboarder on their team to encourage girls to skate. I’m wearing navy blue Sk8-Hi’s with this look I wore while grabbing lunch with my friends after class. These sneakers are perfect for how on the go I am and are awesome to skate to class in.
I picked up this red Hawaiian button-down from a local vintage shop here in Tallahassee. The bright playful print caught my eye and I could immediately picture myself wearing this piece throughout summer. Hawaiian shirts were trending this summer for street style as reported by Vogue and W magazine. I’m soaking up those last few summer days in this top. As we are transitioning to fall and winter wear these chinos are basically an essential for me. It will be interesting to see where my style takes me as we transition to the upcoming seasons. Don’t stop doing what you love.
