For multiple decades, suede has been a staple piece in many people’s wardrobe. It’s a material that can be found in every item—shoes (boots, heels, flats), bags, tops, pants, etc. Lately, the caramel, brown suede color has hit the runways and streets all over the world. I took inspiration from Balmain’s spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection, viewing the caramel brown suede color in many different pieces within the line. The looks using the color are all styled differently. Moreover, the different brown suede pieces have different details like silver ring belts, zippers and cutouts.
To make the caramel brown suede trend fit into my personal style, I added some of my favorite wardrobe staples into the outfit. I added denim into my unique look, with the Free People super flares and a dark wash denim choker. I bought my denim choker at a thrift store in New York City but one can find them at many places now, online or in stores. A choker is always a basic in my wardrobe. Moreover, I have chokers in all different colors and sizes—it can be seen in all of my outfits! I then added my favorite silver jewelry for extra flair. I added some gray stone bracelets from a local store in Boston, my silver Michael Kors watch, a white gold Cartier love bracelet and silver David Yurman bracelets as well. As you can see in my appearances, I love the bohemian and ’70s style. In Balmain’s collection, the suede looks are more classic in nature then ’70s, but suede can be styled both ways.
