Well, fall semester has come and gone and there is only one thing stopping us from a month of winter relaxation, finals. If you’re anything like me you’ve already had an unhealthy amount of various caffeinated beverages, your desk is covered with stacks of flashcards and you’re fighting the urge to take a Netflix break every few minutes.
I decided to take a quick break from studying and browse the collections on Vogue.com for some end of the semester inspiration. When I came across the Lisa Perry pre-fall 2016 collection I was immediately hooked. This collection encompasses everything I have been loving lately. The simple silhouettes are very chic and satisfying to see. My favorite part of the collection is the grid pattern that is seen throughout the garments. I have seen a lot of this simple pattern recently and I love how versatile it is.
I decided to have a go at recreating this look with pieces from my own wardrobe. I knew I wanted to keep it monochromatic so I started off with a go-to pair of black skinny jeans. Next, I selected a black and white grid button-down. This checked top has been one of my most reached for items lately; I love layering it underneath sweaters to ad a bit of edge. I paired the top with a classic leather jacket and my chunky loafers to complete the look.
If you’re trying to achieve a look inspired by the Lisa Perry collection there are so many ways to go about it! Don’t be afraid to add a pop of red, blue, green or yellow if you want to insert some color into your look. I definitely look forward to experimenting more with recreating this collection!
