As I think back to my childhood, I can’t help but sing along to my favorite girl power movie: The Cheetah Girls. I remember my friends and I trying to decide which Cheetah Girl we matched up with, and ultimately, who would get the solos when we would become singing sensations. In case you were wondering, I was always Raven Symone’s character, Galleria Garibaldi. I think that’s what ultimately started my cheetah obsession, and it has since then grown. Unlike zebra or chevron, I believe cheetah print to be classic print when used appropriately. If I can’t be an actual cheetah girl, I want to wear the print!
But as I mentioned, you have to know when and how it’s appropriate to wear the print or else it could come off as tacky. In this scenario, you need to turn to the Givenchy resort 2016 collection. If you love cheetah print, then you would have loved to see this show as it is the main statement of the entire collection. It features everything from a simple cheetah day dress to an army green cheetah jacket. Though it may not sound appealing at first, trust me, it works!
In my interpretation of the collection, I incorporated the print in my blouse. I didn’t want to overload the cheetah so I kept the focus soley on that. I love the sheer and light fabric of this blouse that makes it comfortable to wear, but it still makes a statement. I paired it with my black skinny jeans from Forever 21, which are super cheap and easy to throw on. For shoes, I decided to keep the dressy look alive and wore my favorite pair of tan wedges. It just goes to show that brown and black can actually look good together.
For accessories, I added a gold cuff bracelet because I always try to add in some gold when I can get away with it. Because I wasn’t really feeling my hair, I threw on my floppy hat and called it a day. I love this look because it could be great for both date night or a girl’s night out. If you ever hear of a Cheetah Girl reunion, you know where to find me.
