STYLE GURU STYLE: Chic Comfort

After seeing the reemergence of classic chunky knit sweaters on the runway this fall, I knew this was a look I could easily recreate. I have so many of my mother’s, father’s and grandparents’ old knits in my closet—vintage sweaters are all that I wear as the weather gets colder. These oversized sweaters were seen for fall 2015 on Vionnet’s runway, as well as at Valentino, Michael Kors and Prabal Gurung. I especially liked Prabal Gurung’s fall 2014 ready-to-wear collection because it showcased an eclectic mix of layered knits with cool tones of gray, deep green and burgundy. One look I decided to channel was the layering of a turtleneck under a sweater. Both weather-appropriate and chic, it’s a perfect combination for crisp Indiana weather in early December.

I wore a vintage muted green jumper, a color that was a little richer in his collection; however, I found that this cool muted color works for the time of year. In the winter, I like to keep my outfits simple while still showing off my personal style. For me, comfort is definitely key when it comes to my style. I threw on a black turtleneck underneath and paired it with classic black leggings and my white Superga shoes. Winter whites were another trend I noticed all over the fall runways, and these shoes fit the bill while adding a bit of unexpected lightness to the outfit. This outfit is comfortable and will keep you warm through the cold months of winter.

Get My Look: 1. An oversized chunky knit sweater. 2. A comfy turtleneck. 3. A pair of classic white tennis shoes.
