I have always loved distinguishing designers’ trends and tendencies! In particular, I am fascinated with how a designer composes the look; is it one statement piece with a few basic additions or is it many simple garments put together in an intricate manner? I switch off incorporating both of these styling approaches when choosing my outfits.
In this post, I’d like to address one of my favorite brands, Chloé. In their spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection, many of the looks were just one or two pieces put together. Each item was detailed though, so instead of a basic dress and shoes, Chloé had elaborate sandals and intricate fabrics. My favorite looks that inspired my outfit were 1, 2 and 12.
As I began to assemble my outfit, I struggled a bit finding one detailed garment that really resembled the collection I had been admiring. After searching for a while in my closet, I finally found a woven cotton romper I had purchased a few months ago from NASTY GAL. It was the perfect piece capturing the essence of Chloé that I’d been looking for. I then paired the romper with some of my favorite Jeffrey Campbell gladiators. Most of the Chloé models had little to no accessories, and when they did it was a simple brown bag of some sort. Adding my own flare to the outfit, I accessorized with a fringed boho backpack, bronze arm band and rings.
Incorporating statement garments into your wardrobe is always a good idea. Chloé knows just how to do it, and I know just how to do it on a CollegeFashionista budget!
