STYLE GURU STYLE: Cinched In

In the Michael Kors 2015 ready-to-wear runway show the garments were mainly designed to accentuate the waist by tapering the garments waistline by design or with an accessory, such as a belt. Another highlight in the show was the deep V-neck, which I find very attractive on women with smaller chests. Michael Kors also included floral prints, geometric patterns and basic colors that could be used as an inspiration for creating your own look. The print, shape and neckline of the dress featured in this article is similar to something Michael Kors may design in a collection. This runway show exuded simplicity with classic design that is perfect for all shapes and sizes.

If there were a fashion go-to item that would give you insight into my style as a Fashionista, it would be the cinched waist. For me fashion is not just about the clothes, but how you get the full potential of the outfit by matching the right garment with your body type. I may like a trend, but choose not to wear it because it just isn’t the right fit for my shape. The cinched waist has yet to fail me and this dress design cuts right into the smallest part of my torso allowing a feminine look to show off my womanly curves.

With temperamental curly hair that does not always cooperate with the weather calls for improvising. Instead of pinning it up, I decided to use this as an opportunity to accessorize. My choice to wear a hat not only tamed the beast, but also added some flare to my outfit. The low neckline added more space to the chest, which I chose to fill with a chunky coin necklace. Along with the black felt hat and silver necklace, I paired this dress with a pair of Vince Camuto peep-toe heels. Adding a nice comfortable heel will not only dress your outfit up, but will have you ready for any outing you have planned out!

Get My Look: 1. A Piper hat. 2. Coin necklace. 3. A Dress.
