I am often inspired by American classics, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein for their timeless looks that can be altered to one’s personal style. My outfit is inspired by the Ralph Lauren spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection. Most looks from the collection feature classic blue and white stripes in pieces ranging from bags to dresses. Navy blue is a reoccurring color throughout the collection and adds a bold statement to each look. The models looked beach ready as they strutted with nautical-inspired pieces. The entire collection was reminiscent of a stylish day by the boardwalk.
The outfit I styled expresses a classic look with a punch of sass. A button-down, is a perfect summer go-to on cooler days. I chose to wear a nautical linen button-down, inspired by the collection. The light and airy fabric of linen screams summer by the beach. I also wanted to incorporate the navy blue used frequently in the collection, so I included a navy cardigan. The color nicely offsets the blue and white creating a bolder look. I tied the cardigan around my waist, a style replicated from the collection.
Ripped jeans is the perfect way to add personality to any outfit. In this case, it dresses down my look. With ripped jeans, the look is still nautical, but with a cool factor that translates as a beach day with the girls.
To complete the look, I added Converse sneakers that complement the outfit without making it too busy. I did want to add a pop of color, so I opted for a sunny cross-body bag with enough punch of sass.
And now, accessories—my favorite! Sunglasses perfectly enhanced this look, adding to the classic beach vibe. I’m also a lover of jewelry and paired my outfit with a simple necklace and bracelet. These additions add personal touches that elevate the simplicity of Ralph Lauren-inspired outfits.
