After what seemed to be an endless summer here in California, fall has come last. I can finally start to feel the glimpses of the cold and cozy feeling that the season naturally brings. Perhaps that has something to do with the return of the pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks, or my new favorite the toasted graham latte. Just like the return of these hot drinks, the season also marks the comeback of wardrobe layering.
My latest outfit happens to do just that, inspired by the Public School fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection. This line is definitely the best of both worlds given it’s androgynous nature when it comes to the universal silhouettes and classic color usage. It incorporates the layering of both sporty, casual and sophisticated pieces that give it an all-together cool yet effortless feel for fall. I absolutely love how this line pulled together neutral tones and made menswear inspired favorites wearable for women. Just as they have proven to do in all of their past collections as well.
Though this line’s use of heavy coats isn’t as necessary where I live, I was still able to translate it with a layered look. By using staple black and white pieces with hints of red, inspired by the collection’s color story. Accomplished, by pairing a classic white button-up shirt, a leather jacket and accenting with a red plaid flannel tied around my waist. Finishing off the look with some ripped black skinny jeans and platinum loafers to add some contrast. The combination results in a very chic yet grunge inspired look using classic garments perfect for the colder weather.
