Often times when I write style guru style articles I find designer brands I have never heard of but ultimately end up loving their collections. The trend only continues with the 2016 ready-to-wear collection by Mugler. The collection uniquely balances both classic and modern themes, two styles that are usually opposites and typically not paired together.
The underlying theme in Mugler’s collection consisted of all-black attire with varying subcategories of detailing. One subcategory consisted of subtle hints of leopard print, my favorite outfit being number nine, which is a classic fall and winter trend. To mimic this, I started with a solid black dress and matching boots. I paired those pieces with a leopard scarf to not only mimic the detailing but to add some flair as well.
Several ensembles in the collection consisted of all-black with pops of bright yellow. The bright yellow, reflective of more modern fall and winter themes, was too bold for my own personal taste. To incorporate a pop color to my look, I accessorized with my entrusted Juicy Couture tote bag. This shade of magenta is a personal favorite of mine. The embroidered design on the bag only further accents my dress. Tote bags are perfect for college because of their ability to hold larger items, such as laptops and textbooks. They are also perfect for being statement pieces when paired with basic, solid colored items.
Get My Look: 1. Solid black dress. 2. Statement tote bag. 3. Leopard print scarf.
