STYLE GURU STYLE: Classy And Cool For Class

Watching alice + olivia’s pre-fall 2015 runway show, I am already ready for the cool, windy autumn season. The collection has a very chic boho style with a vintage feel. Yet, it also has a very ladylike flair to it and is essentially made for modern women. It features gaucho pants, tailored suits, matching skirt sets and luxurious maxi dresses. As much as I would love to pull off big maxi dresses and full fabricated skirts right now, I left all my fun skirts and dresses back home in California. So for now, here in Rochester, I have to dress practically for my crazy student life.

As much as I love the collection’s baroque prints and beautiful ’70s-inspired color pops, I also appreciated one of Stacey Bendet’s monochromatic looks that had a silk navy top paired with navy trousers. This look is a great clean look that balanced all of the other print-heavy ensembles. It is also an outfit that can be worn to to different occasions and never goes out of style. What I love most about this look too is that it is easy to accommodate to any lifestyle.

Today, I managed to pull off the classy sheer silky blouse with monochromatic bottoms, but added a little Franny flare by throwing on my zip-up gray Free People hoodie for a more casual boho spin. I am also a big fan of hats and was having a bad hair day, so the black fedora saved the day and added a little extra “cool” to my look.

This pre-fall 2015 show inspired me play with monochromatic looks more often, whether at the gym in all-black sweats or like today when, I had a busy day for class. Monochrome works for all occasions and should not be limited strictly to the Runway.

Get My Look: 1. A classic, sheer silky blouse. 2. An oversized hoodie sweater 3. A black fedora hat.
