Of all the runway shows I’ve watched, the spring 2015 runway shows were by far the most interesting to me. Designers this year perceived each look differently. The trends now are anywhere from ’60s feminine to ’70s bohemian. The Valentino, Saint Laurent and Alexander McQueen shows in particular caught my attention. As some of you may know, I tend to dress more in neutral tones with small details or patterns to my garment pieces. These shows gave me the inspiration I needed to take a step outside of the box and explore both color and pattern.
I found this awesome, comfortable and unique patterned dress at Urban Outfitters and immediately fell in love. Again, I am always the girl who chooses black for any article of clothing, and it is rare that you will find me in a floral piece! This dress gives off the warm, happy summertime feeling we all want (especially here in the mitten state).
This piece was awesome because it made a statement in itself. The abstract designs and colors on this dress make it so that you don’t necessarily need to accessorize, and the main focus should definitely be on the dress itself. Going outside of my comfort zone made me realize not everything has to be black, cream and white. Sometimes your wardrobe can speak for itself! I paired my light pink cross-body bag to translate into the amazing pink tones in the dress and also wore my super comfortable wedges with a touch of black.
First, you need a fun colorful dress! If you aren’t into the dress thing, find a pair of bright pants or a fun patterened top to create the focal piece to build the rest of the outfit from. After you find your main piece, either accessorize or find a bag that ties in nicely to the look but still does not take away from your main garment. Throw on a pair of your more basic, comfortable shoes and you’re good to go!
Get My Look: 1. A colorful/patterned dress. 2. A cross-body bag. 3. Wedges.
