As February comes to a close, New Jersey is experiencing some serious weather anxiety and I’m not exactly sure how to feel about it. Just yesterday it was literally nearing 75 degrees and today it’s suddenly 30 degrees colder as I sit here writing this post, clearly conflicted on what outfit to showcase this month. After some intense deliberation, I decided to opt for an outfit that satisfies all three aspects of the famous idiom, “Cool, calm, and collected.” My style has always reflected my mood and I feel that idiom is really spot-on when it comes to choosing any outfit, no matter what the weather may be.
Although there is still one more month of winter left, I was aiming toward more fall, neutral tones. I threw on my boyfriend’s oversize, striped turtleneck underneath a black leather jacket and paired it with classic light denim jeans with a rip in the knees and my beat up Stan Smiths. For accessories, I topped the look off with this gorgeous, silver inverted rose pendant necklace and this large gold-buckle belt to put a spin on both silver and gold by mixing it up a bit. These pieces are all so versatile and to be honest, quite timeless, which was exactly the look I was going for.
With that being said, I’ve always been an avid turtleneck enthusiast—a piece that I believe is truly timeless. Whether loose and baggy or tight and form-fitting, turtlenecks really have the ability to make or break an outfit and this oversize one is one of my absolute favorites. The leather jacket is another timeless staple in my closet, adding both warmth and edginess to my otherwise fairly preppy outfit.
Seeing as I am halfway through my second semester as a sophomore in college and as a CollegeFashionista Style Guru, a common theme I can always follow in my posts is comfort. I guess you can say I’m a big fan of C’s because this look focuses on portraying cool, calm, and collected. However, I am going to add on yet another “C” that I always make sure to incorporate; being classic. Timeless, classic pieces and looks are so important to me and I hope you can all try it out for yourselves within your own closets!
