Inspired by the Spanish, the Dolce&Gabbana spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection was absolutely breathtaking. The collection was full of floral prints, embroidery and lots of red. A matador’s outfit that would be worn in a bullfight inspired the creations. With bullfighting comes the idea of dressing to kill…or be killed. The matador specifically wears an ensemble that will provoke the bull. Domenico and Stefano, Dolce & Gabbana’s designers, created looks that even bulls wouldn’t want to destroy.
Today, I went for a look that resembled this collection. I replaced the red color palette with a cobalt blue theme—just in case there were some bulls charging around campus. My dress still has the same embroidered feel as look 56 of the collection (oh hey, Kendall Jenner). The floral pattern surrounding the upper and lower parts of the dress give the ensemble a Spanish vibe. I completed my outfit with a motorcycle style jacket, black tights and a pair of bright blue patent Dr. Martens boots. PSA: Wearing your jacket as a cape automatically says, “I’m fashionable.” What’s more fashionable than not using your sleeves? I’m kidding, but the cape look does add a chic factor to any ensemble.
When influenced by a look from the runway, it’s important to make it your own. Use pieces in your wardrobe to make it work for you. The Dolce&Gabbana collection made me want to buy a one-way plane ticket to Sicily. From beautiful needlework to perfectly placed polka dots, these looks are flawless. I strived to bring this effortless feel to my look.
