Street style seems to be the inspiration for designers for the upcoming seasons, and, of course, I just adore this craze! Street style suggests monochromatic, which leads one to all-black, well at least for me. During my final days of winter break, I have been browsing through current fashion shows and came across a surprising brand that dabbled in street style: sass & bide. sass & bide’s pre-fall 2015 collection screams monochromatic with a hint of houndstooth, a plethora of leather, and to keep it from being total biker girl, it featured a variety of skirts. Sass & Bide traded the intense tailoring for a boxier, comfortable feel.
Although I was searching for inspiration to lighten up my wardrobe, this reassured me I was just being rash and should stick to my usual dark palette. Transitioning this runway look into my personal everyday style did not take much work and did not really force me out of my comfort zone. But I have to say that after seeing that the skirts worked so well in this classic Pacific Northwest collection, I have added a mid-length skirt to my shopping list.
For this outfit, I stuck with the leather theme from this collection. I wore a leather jacket over a leather top. On the bottom, I opted for distressed black jeans due to the lack of skirts and dresses in my wardrobe. To make it more of my own, I added my gold statement rings and my favorite sunglasses. I also added my beloved Steve Madden cheetah slip on sneakers for my personal touch.
This collection connected with my style and allowed me to take a runway look and incorporate it into my everyday, not so girly chic, style. The grunge, with a bit of added flare, allowed me to feel confident with my usual style and mixing in something slightly more feminine (if a black skirt is considered feminine). I loved how this collection flowed and cannot wait to see how I can weave it in to my outfits more often!
