Sometimes you just pull random bits and pieces from your wardrobe and assemble an outfit that just somehow works. That’s the beauty of fashion. You can wear the same item repeatedly in a bazillion different ways, literally. Fashion is always reviving itself; what goes out of style will eventually find its way back in within new versions of itself. Lately, I’ve found myself gravitating towards my childhood self; wearing outfits that consist of embroidery, chokers, and turtlenecks. There’s something so nostalgic about it.
When you lose attachment of your garments, you have a chance to give it a new purpose. Minimizing the waste of fast fashion in landfills and the amount of natural resources used for production can easily be done. Donate to your favorite organization, offer them for sale and make some money, or revitalize them in a DIY project! Companies like H&M will even take your used clothing off your hands and find new uses for it, making Fashionista/os everywhere proud.
Inspired by the laid-back look of athleisure, I decided to revolved my attire around my woven Nikes. I love how light they are; it feels like I’m walking on clouds. I opt for a camel turtleneck to go with Oregon’s chilly weather. For an extra layer of warmth, I added in a hooded duster. It provides texture and length to the outfit. For bottoms, I wore these super soft pair of ripped knee jeans. Lastly, I accessorized with my Apple watch to keep track of my steps for the day!
Fashion is about taking chances and gathering inspiration from it. Let your mind run free and create an unexpected outfit that speaks to you. Your interpretation of it is up to you, make it your own!
