STYLE GURU STYLE: Culotte Cuteness

If there’s one thing this summer has taught me, it’s that culottes are in, and they’re here to stay. Fit for any kind of occasion, the shape and style of a culotte pant can easily be paired into the perfect outfit for all activities.

My outfit was inspired by the Tibi resort 2017 Collection, which showcased a large variety of culotte, dress pant, and any form fitting pant matched with either a crop or a baggy top to give a specific essence to the entire look. I wanted to photograph this look of mine because I feel as though it perfectly describes my everyday style. In this heat we’ve been having in the city, I have been sporting the messy bun with hanging hair almost every day of the week. And paired with my everyday business chic outfits, I feel I balance my aesthetic of class with simplicity to perfection.

When I purchased these pants, I was actually on vacation in Mallorca, Spain, and I was making sure to take full advantage of the Zara there (after hearing on numerous occasions that the Zara here in New York was nothing to compare to the ones in Europe). I was never a person to utilize statement patterns and bright colors, but something about the brave design on these pants gave me the inspiration to just go for it, and now I couldn’t be happier! These pants have become a statement item for me, and I have worn them for every kind of occasion already! Going out to dinner with friends, going to a club, going to a concert and even just for strolls in the city (a.k.a. shopping spree). They have worked in each way flawlessly.

My outfit consists of a simple black off-the-shoulder crop from LF which ends up being not so simple! You can’t see from the front, but the black fabric choker I am wearing is actually a part of my top! The back of the shirt actually zips all the way up as if it was a turtle neck crop, and leads to the choker. I paired this top with my patterned culottes to balance out the simplicity of the shirt with the brave colors of the pant. I finished this outfit off with a pair of silver Dolce Vita slippers and a simple black bag. Ending the look off, I went for simple makeup; basically just a touch of mascara and some brow gel to give the effortless look I was going for. And of course, my messy bun topped off the oufit for a flawless Manhattan look!
