The ’90s revival was enjoyable but did not endure for long. However, the denim revival is here to stay and is taking the fashion world by storm! Jean jackets, pants, mini skirts and even handbags are being admired as the popular “normcore” trend. Denim is the herald of street style, especially as we are easing into the heavier layers of fall here in New York City. One of my favorite collections that cherish the tradition of denim is Frame Denim’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection.
Full of suede and denim, the collection paid homage to posh silhouettes of the ’70s. Each of these looks elude chic professionalism, or in New York terms, “downtown cool.” My favorite ensembles are the various turtlenecks that Frame pairs with culottes and denim skirts in brown, gray and white hues. As you can see, I am channeling that trend in my current outfit on a West Village corner.
My denim skirt is the most versatile item in my closet. I love wearing it with a sweater, blazer or graphic T-shirt. It secretly makes me feel like the coolest chick in fourth grade. Similar to a piece in Frame Denim’s collection, the buttons of my skirt line the front, while the hem falls at an appropriate length. Today, denim can transform a generic look into an instant classic.
I chose to pair this look with one of my favorite Tommy Hilfiger bags and a chunky necklace from Forever 21 (where else?!). My brown palette shows how much I am craving the warm tones of autumn.
Rock denim this fall with a classic, youthful spirit!
Get My Look: 1. Try this turtleneck from Ann Taylor. 2. A skirt by Frame Denim would be ideal or a longer option. 3. Statement necklace.
