Denim will always be a part of our lives. I’ve always been a huge fan of denim, from the all-denim outfits in the ‘80s/’90s, to denim mini skirts in the early 2000s and to now with denim shirts, unique jeans, etc. There has always been a negative stigma about all-denim outfits; many people call them “tacky,” “out of style” or “uncool” but frankly, I think they’re here to stay. Double denim is back in style and look 25 in Fendi’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection proves this. This look inspired me most because of the effortless layering and laid back, feel which is exactly what I went for in my look. For the summertime especially, double denim is the best because it’s often light and extremely versatile.
Feeling like I was a part of Justin Timberlake and Britney Spear’s entourage in 2001 (anyone remember that iconic denim duo?), I ignored the negative stigma associated with the double denim look with confidence. What I love about this trend is that you can mix light and dark denim or simply have a monochromatic look. I chose the latter with my outfit by incorporating an Acne denim shirt with the best boyfriend jeans I’ve ever laid my eyes on. Adding in my favorite color, I wore a simple black crop top. Due to the loose-fitting feel, this outfit was perfect for a hot and breezy summer day. Lately I’ve been obsessed with androgynous outfits and incorporating menswear (I suppose you can call me a late-blooming tomboy). I completed my look with black slide sandals and a chained necklace that made me feel like I was straight out of an episode of The Fresh Price of Bel-Air.
Get My Look: 1. Any denim shirt. 2. Ripped boyfriend jeans. 3. Any black crop top. 3. Black slide sandals.
