As much I hate to admit it sometimes, I am a hopeless romantic. I love how I can use the artistry of fashion to portray my romantic side through feminine silhouettes and feminine prints, which is why the fall 2015 couture show by Atelier Versace inspired this look.
This dress incorporates one of my favorite trends of the summer, the off-the-shoulder floral dress. I think the shoulder is one of the most underplayed, yet striking aspects of the female body that I love to show off when I want to exude a bit of romance. The navy, as opposed to a more traditional black dress, gives the dress versatility to be worn during the day as well. The ruffles gives the dress some dimension and adds to the overall romantic vibe of the look
The shape of the A-line shape of the dress, with a cinched waist is another romantic detail that would flattering on any body type, particularly those with a petite curvy frame, like myself. The cut of the frock, right above the knee, is also a versatile yet flattering aspect of the garment. It shows just enough skin without being too risqué or making the dress frumpy and ill-fitting.I paired the look with some simple black ankle strap heels, which elongate my legs and do not take too much attention away from the look itself, only add to it. To add a bit of the unexpected into the look, I threw on some Buddha-inspired silver earrings I got at a flea market when on holiday in Kenya. I call these earrings conversation-starters because I never fail to receive a slew of compliments whenever I wear them, and of course, I get to tell the cool story of how I came about these gems.
To add to the daintiness and femininity of the look, I would add some thin gold rings to mix up with the silver earrings and add some texture and intrigue to the outfit without clashing with the floral print. Overall, I would say this look is perfect for a date night at a cute outdoor café, when you feel like being glamorous and in the mood for love.
