STYLE GURU STYLE: Definitely Denim

No one is more ready for the warm weather than I am. In fact, I have been waiting hopefully with welcoming arms since my last article went live. So here I am again, hopefully not too far ahead of the weather, with the perfect look to welcome spring back with.

This easy-going look was inspired by the Marc Jacobs spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection. This collection features a patriotic palette of shimmery reds, whites and blues. Also making an appearance throughout the collection is everyone’s favorite basic, denim. This collection is simply so fun! It varies from glamorous gowns to fun and flirty denim-wear. For my look, I stuck to the same color palette but left out the shimmer for a more relaxed look. I also chose to incorporate a denim piece in as one of the main focal points of my look.

The denim skirt is a versatile piece and a pivotal component of this look. Its multicolored wash and front pockets take the skirt to a new level, leaving that old denim skirt you wore in the fifth grade right where it belongs, in the fifth grade. The buttons lining the front of the skirt further redefine what it means to be a denim skirt. I paired it with a loose maroon shirt partially tucked in. To add in a pop of white, I paired it with a white denim jacket. Now, since the weather trend seems to be anything but predictable, the jacket can be worn tied around the waist in the event of a temperature spike (I hope to be sporting my jackets in this fashion ASAP).

I finished the look off with a pair of white Keds, perfectly comfortable and perfectly cute. While I chose to finish my look off with a pair of sneaker, there are many directions you could take this look in. The runway collection features everything from sneakers to heels and from sandals to booties. I chose to wear Keds for a campus ready look, but if you are headed for an outing with friends try matching it with a fun pair of booties.

Get My Look: 1. Any style red shirt. 2. Denim skirt. 3. White denim jacket 4. White sneakers.
